Fernando (Nanding) Mendez

Fernando ‘Nanding’ Mendez, an accomplished art director, made his mark in the United States when he founded Special Edition Press, Inc. in 1992 New York City. This venture marked the birth of Special Edition Magazine, which covered political, social, and economic issues crucial to Filipino Americans. Inspired by the magazine’s successful seven-year run, Nanding Mendez expanded into commercial printing, advertising, public relations, property acquisition, and large- scale staged events in New York and Atlantic City. He is regularly cited in the Fil-Am Who’s Who in the USA.

Nanding’s entrepreneurial feats in the U.S. can be traced back to his achievements in commercial art. He won numerous competitions in illustration, painting, graphic design, and print advertising in Manila, earning recognition as the youngest art director at Philippine Advertising Counselors in 1976.

In 1996, Nanding founded the US-Philippines Trade and Cultural Show in New York. The event foreshadowed Fiesta In America which to date has evolved into the largest annual indoor Filipino event on Expo and Cultural Show the U.S. East Coast. The summer extravaganza is a fusion of Philippine music and dance, local products, tourist attractions, real estate and other investment opportunities, native cuisine, and services catering to immigrants. Since its inception 26 years ago, not-for-profit Fiesta In America has drawn over 250,000 attendees, and gained the support of numerous brands from the Philippines, the U.S., and other nations.

Fiesta In America is held annually in Court A of American Dream, the second-largest mall in the USA, situated in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Over 12,000 Filipino Americans are joined at the festival by more than 60,000 consumers from diverse cultures who flock to the mall’s attractions. Alongside his beloved Laura Garcia, Nanding collaborates with the Fiesta In America team and colleagues to organize the People’s Ball, held every August at the Marriott Newark International Airport Hotel. The gala draws in approximately 400 luminaries in the Fil-Am community.

Alert to Fil-Ams’ nostalgia, introduced “Pasko In America” in December 2023 at American Dream, envisioning a yearly Yuletide complement to Fiesta In America.

Torris Pelichet

Founded by Torris Pelichet, Pelichet Production stands at the intersection of creativity and strategy, harnessing the power of storytelling to elevate brands to new heights.

Born and bred in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, Torris Pelichet’s journey to the heart of New York City was fueled by a passion for the arts. Initially drawn to the stage, Torris embarked on a professional acting career upon arriving in the Big Apple fifteen years ago. Yet, amidst the hustle and bustle of auditions and rehearsals, a deeper love for storytelling began to take root.

Inspired by luminaries like Jean Luc Godard, Agnes Varda, and Stanley Kubrick, Torris recognized the boundless potential of the film industry. Thus, he took a bold leap, founding his first film company, “The Company,” and unveiling his directorial debut with the mesmerizing short film “Experiment” in 2014.

Torris’s cinematic journey continued to unfold, punctuated by captivating projects such as “Homo-Bobiea,” “Roo’s Nest,” “Shifts” (though incomplete), and “Bast.” With each endeavor, his passion for narrative craftsmanship and visual storytelling deepened, paving the way for a transformative evolution.

In 2015, Torris ventured Down Under, spearheading the ambitious project “Roo’s Nest” in Australia. It was during this time that Pelichet Production was born, marking the dawn of a new era. Despite facing initial hurdles and a brief dalliance with a short-lived business partner, Torris’s vision remained unwavering.

By the close of 2019, Pelichet Production had emerged as a beacon of creativity and innovation, securing its first client, MJM Associate Construction. With a blend of artistic flair and strategic acumen, the team crafted bespoke solutions, from captivating logos to immersive video portfolios, propelling Pelichet Production into the forefront of brand design.

As the world navigated the tumultuous waves of the pandemic, Pelichet Production pivoted with agility, focusing its efforts on strategic brand consultancy. Today, the company stands as a testament to Torris’s unwavering commitment to excellence, offering unparalleled expertise in brand strategy design to clients in New York and beyond.

Driven by a shared passion for creativity and innovation, Pelichet Production continues to illuminate the path forward, one brand story at a time.
